A territory and its vine, Moscato di Scanzo
The Land
The land of our wine-making company is located in the heart of the production area for our Moscato di Scanzo, where the presence of the “Sass de Luna” allows the production of top quality wines. The “Sass de Luna” or “Moon stone” is a chalky marly land formation of a grayish blue colour which can be found particularly in the land of Scanzorosciate.
The origin of the name is unknown, although already at the beginning of the 1800s, the quarrymen from Bergamo were accustomed to calling it that, perhaps because of its colour which is similar to a full moon.
Vines and grapevines
The grapes that follow the rules of production give rise to the Moscato di Scanzo DOCG.
These same grapes during harvest contribute to the production of our Cardinale and Capriccio dell’Abate wines.
